It's not every day that fate throws two people into your life who completely trust your vision, expertise and wholeheartedly believe in your brand. When Misty booked me for a simple Charleston beach session with her boyfriend Brett (at the time) we automatically hit it off. I loved her whitty personality and light she brought to the conversation. Brett then reached out to me, behind her back, to upgrade her session into a full proposal and I knew right away how much he truly loved her. While leaving the session that day, after she finally say YES!; we were immediately talking about eloping in Scotland. I always try to get folks to elope there, because it truly is so cost efficient and romantic, but when they were actually down for it, a year of planning began.

While there are so many stunning castles to choose from in Scotland, I knew Misty wanted one where she could also provide accomidations for her handful of really good friends who were coming to celebrate. Once I saw Kilmartin in Argyll and Bute, I knew right away this was the castle for them. All of our vendors, from Wild Kabn Kitchen (incredible food cooked over real firewood), to Tam the Piper, to Morna Shaw for florals and Lorna Wilson as a celebrant; went above and beyond for my couple. The piper was a bit of a splurge but every American couple eloping abroad should require one at their wedding in my opinion!

The weather itself was mind boggling. I was fully prepared for non-stop rain, chose film stocks that would be perfect for that weather, and even had back up plans in mind. Little did we know, we would have perfect 70 degree weather, with beautiful light and not a rain drop to fall from the sky. It felt more like California weather rather than Scottish weather!

Misty and Brett exchanged the most gut wrenchingly beautiful vows, partied with their friends all night and had the most delicious dinner in the green house. It was a day that had an emphasis on connection, odes to Scottish traditions, a relaxed timeline and truly what I hoped the day to be. All I wanted for Misty and Brett, the darling humans they are, was a day that felt like a fairy tale. And I think we truly achieved that.
