Meet Crockett- I feel like he is a celebrity at this point. I first photographed this family the moment I moved to Colorado Springs. They took a chance on a random beach photographer and must have enjoyed their time enough to hire me again once Colin (dad) got back from deployment. So we headed downtown for some lifestyle portraits!

This family is always willing to do any pose I tell them to do. They go for it without hesitation. So we wandered down to Carnelian Coffee to warm up and get some relaxing shots. I learned that Crockett is a man after my own heart and not only wanted hot cocoa but mom and dad's coffees as well.

To me, family sessions are about capturing your family dynamic as it is. If your toddler is being a toddler and having a fit on the floor, let them and I'll get you all laughing at him. If your kid spills hot chocolate all down the front of him, the session isn't over- he's just clearly enjoying himself. While I do like to get a few traditional poses here and there, it's just not my style- I like real families just the way they are.
