I had a vision. It always starts this way; I get a creative idea in my head, inspired by a film or a book and then it literally itches at the back of my mind until I see it come to life. Growing up in Bristol, I walked by Linden Place daily. It is funny how when you grow up surrounded by these amazing pieces of history and architecture, you take them for granted. Then, when you are 35, living behind a Taco Bell in Colorado Springs, you realize you grew up absolutely spoiled rotten by living in a town that looks like Hallmark will film there at any moment.
This concept was all I ever wanted to shoot. Gardens, a mansion from the 1700's, an absolutely mind blowing dress. Blue and white is very coastal and I knew I wanted to incorporate pastels and creams as well. I wanted these to feel as though they would become an oil painting as well. After planning for months, the day finally came. And it was a hot one. And there was absolutely zero air conditioning in 1750, so not only did my dream team and I start melting, so did the cake. Just a perk of shooting in historically accurate conditions.
I wish everyone knew the work that went into this one, I had models cancel multiple times (cheers to real life couple Tim and Alyssa for stepping in last minute), I had to ship antiques from Colorado to Connecticut and half of them ended up smashed to bits. I only had a handful of photographers sign up (their loss). It was all literally, a labor of love. All because I wanted to produce what is constantly swimming in my brain: vintage romances. It was worth it.
I hope you all enjoy these moments on film as much as I did. As always, I am ready to book weddings in Rhode Island forever; as it is the place that whole heartedly shaped me and inspired me and allowed me to always be the weird kid who wasn't from this time.
