Nothing feels better than shooting beautiful people in your hometown. I did Tim and Alyssa's engagement photos, one thousand years ago when I wasn't even quite sure how to hold a camera and yet they still trusted me to shoot their maternity photos. I almost cried when she mentioned Blithewold Mansion as the location. I used to go visit the mansion as a child at Christmas and it was magic. They decorate in Victorian style and had antique toys and the most realistic Santa Claus ever. I had never experienced the gardens before and now I know why they are world-renowned- so many varieties from all over the world are cultivated there and you can nearly feel the souls of the Van Winkle family (who lived there over a hundred years ago) walking alongside you. 'Bessie Van Winkle described her vision for “a park with distinctive features, using the house as a centre.” The original aesthetic intent was established in the Great Lawn and surrounding gardens and in the name that they gave to it, Old English for 'happy woodland'.
Happy woodland indeed, just look at the barefoot joy and excitement for Tim and Alyssa's new arrival as we wandered around the grounds.
Tim and Alyssa are always so much fun to photograph. They are down for whatever, Alyssa didn't even wear shoes the entire session! They are also way more patient than me- they are not finding out the sex of their baby until he or she is born. I know its a boy though, I can feel it.
I can not wait to see the adorable munchkin these two make. Maybe I will have to fly back to Rhode Island just to be able to be the first to photograph that wee one!
